In other news, the Cl. 117 DMU at Toddington has developed a fault and will be out of action at least until the end of June. As a consequence, its’ regular BLUE timetable on Thursdays will now be changed to a PINK timetable meaning train 2 will now be diesel-hauled all day. D6948 is rostered to work on Thursday 9th May, giving an additional 69 miles to what was originally planned for the month.
You may have noticed that the above PINK TT day has been reduced to 69 miles instead of the usual 84! There is a significant reason as from Tuesday 7th May, the GWSR Board have seen fit to amend the timetables. The major differences are that the days will now start later and finish earlier, reducing the number of round trips each train undertakes. This, of course, has a negative knock on to the PINK TT days as they will now only offer 69 miles in two and a bit round trips instead of the previous three round trips and 84 miles. It will also see the diesel-hauled element of the PURPLE TT change where the start and end times will be earlier than previously. For new timetable details, go to https://www.gwsr.com/your-visit/timetables and search the post 7th May timetables. This won’t affect the 16th August event where the timetable previously posted remains the same.
