Unfortunately, progress with the lift of D6948 has been hit by the Coronavirus pandemic. Originally planned to lift the loco in March 2020, work was successfully undertaken to disconnect the bogies from the body and prepare for the body lift in October. The lift was then provisionally planned for January 2021, but again had to be deferred due to the 3rd wave of the pandemic.
The loco is now awaiting the availability of lifting brackets and a place in the steam shed to enable the lift to take place – we hope later this year.
