D6948 (providing steam heat) will be working scheduled services on the GWR on 26th December and 1st January when it will work the 15:55 Toddington-Cheltenham Racecourse and 16:40 return. D6948 was called into action at very short notice on Saturday 9th December when steam locomotive GWR 2-6-2T no.5526 was failed with a brake defect during preparation on shed. The 37 was started and the boiler fired up, and made the steam loco’s booked diagram start. click to continue reading
