There has been a lot of too-ing and fro-ing on this one by our Gala Team however, we can now announce that our Gala visitor for 2025 will be pioneer Class 37, D6700. The loco appears with thanks to its Guardians/Owners – our friends at the Heavy Tractor Group, Great Central Railway (Loughborough) and the National Railway Museum. The loco will be with us for the Gala over the weekend of the 25, 26 and 27 July 2025 before heading straight to The Great Gathering at Derby the following week. click to continue reading

Our AGM was completed in April and the notes will be made available with the next edition of ‘The Growler’. One of the major discussion points revolved around some changes to the constitution that would allow us to streamline the election process at each AGM. One disappointment was the attendance which only just allowed us to hold the AGM – under Charity Commission regulations attendance has to be at least 10 persons – so discussion has been had around potentially looking at streaming the AGM in some fashion, thus allowing those members who live a distance away from the GWSR (or who are unable to travel), to log in online and take part that way. Investigations on how we might be able to do this for next year will be ongoing. We also discussed options for our new shop format and the creation of this is ongoing. After the initial postponement, a new date has been agreed for the Annual General Meeting of the Growler Group 2025. The new date will be Saturday 26th April 2025 at 11am. The venue will be the Tim Mitchell Building at Winchcombe Station on the GWSR. click to continue reading
