D6948 sits on Kidderminster TMD at the end of another full on day during its visit for the Class 37 at 65 Gala event.
Well, 2025 is nearly at an end and it has been a highly successful year for the Group and its locos. With their exertions at the Severn Valley railway completed, D6948 and former, fellow Cardiff Canton shedmate, 37263, await their transports home to their respective railways.
D6948 has now safely returned to Toddington after its hugely successful sojourn to our friends at the Severn Valley Railway. The five days spent at the SVR were thoroughly enjoyable and certainly exceeded the wildest dreams of everyone connected with the maintenance and upkeep of the locos. D6948 certainly put on a show and proved a popular machine throughout to both the SVR crews and the assembled enthusiasts. Now she is back at home, D6948 has had its lifeguards and horns refitted and is now back in traffic – although the main season has now ended. click to continue reading

This weekend just passed, 2 – 5 October, saw the Severn Valley Railway gathered together ten Class 37 locomotives, including our very own D6948, to celebrate 65 years since the very first Class 37/EE Type 3 rolled off the Vulcan Foundry production line. Sadly, D6700 wasn’t able to appear however the SVR were able to secure 37501 which, as D6705, entered traffic in early 1961. Close enough. click to continue reading

The ‘Green Machine’ is prepped and ready to take part in this weekends’ festivities at the Severn Valley Railway for their ‘Class 37s at 65’ Gala. All in all there will be 10 Class 37s, including D6948, present and a very intensive timetable will see all locos used – except 37501 which will see use on a couple of days due to crewing constraints. click to continue reading
