With the 2026 Cotswold Diesel Gala now finished (…and WHAT a Gala it was!!), it’s now back to timetabled services and, with the ongoing steam ban, D6948 will continue to see additional use this week – commencing 27 July. The ‘Green Machine’ will be in use all day on Tuesday 28 July on Train 1 of the GREEN timetable.
D6948 will also be in use all day on the same timetable on Thursday 30 July, replacing Gala visitor 25262 which will sadly be heading back to Devon early for repairs after experiencing some problems during the Saturday of the Gala.
As it stands, no further decisions on continued diesel use at the GWSR because of the weather has been made so, on the Loco Rosters page, the new August roster is up although this may change at very short notice.
Also, a reminder that the Growler group turns 40 this year and to celebrate we have a running day scheduled on Friday 21 August 2026 where both locos will be in use double-heading and in TnT formations throughout. This day is open to members and non-members and tickets are only available from our online shop. A small number will also be available at Toddington on the day.
Tickets are £30 for adults (£25 for GG members – you will need your GG membership number when purchasing), £20 for children and under 5’s go free. We hope to see loads of you there.
